Jack Phillips

As the owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop in Colorado, Jack Phillips has become the name and face associated with business owners standing up for their deeply held religious beliefs.

For over 12 years, the Colorado cake artist has stood courageously and endured targeted attacks against him, his family, and his business, Masterpiece Cakeshop. The first attack started in 2012, when Colorado pursued legal action against Jack after he respectfully declined a request to create a custom cake celebrating a same-sex wedding. In June 2018, Jack received his first hard-fought victory with the U.S. Supreme Court, which held that the state had acted with “clear and impermissible hostility” towards Jack’s religious beliefs, violating the First Amendment. The legal attacks persist, and Jack continues to stand courageously for his faith.
